1,150,658 can't be wrong, can they?
The official Soundscan #s aren't in yet, but it's looking like: 50 CENT
THE MASSACRE, SHADY/AFTERMATH/INT, has sold 1,150,658 since release on March 3.
WOW!
Who says people don't still eat beef?
update 3.9.05: Official #s - 50 Cent The Massacre: 1,140,368, according to SoundScan.
update (2) 3.9.05: According to Allhiphop - 50 Cent & The Game have decided to lay their beef to rest and will make a formal announcement at a press conference today (March 9) at the Schomburg Center For Research in Black Culture in NYC at 2:00 pm. "Game & I need to set an example in the community," 50 said today. "50 and I are proving that real situations and real problems can be solved with real talk," Game added.
update (3) 3.9.05: As if we need more 50 mania. Sirius Radio reports that G Unit Radio will overtake Eminem's Shade 45 all day on Saturday "with an innovative mix of shows and DJs produced by 50 Cent's own DJ, Whoo Kid."

Damn, Lynne. Thanks for the numbers. I can't believe idiots snatched up this record so quickly. You liked it more than I did, but I think we can both agree that it is no better than fair. Like you said (and I liked to it): Beef is what people are eating.

I love 50. I think part of his appeal for females has to be all those WAY SEXY lyrics about giving us what we want. Wish more guys would figure that one out.

Halley, you must swoon even more when he's kicking those WAY SEXIER lyrics from "Get In My car," huh? If only I could be as smooth as 50.

I have to admit, 50 can move units... He has a buzz like no other... Now if only an intelligent rapper like, common, mos def or the roots could get get some of that action...

I don't get it. Nothing I've heard off of The Massacre makes me excited.
Disco Enferno and Candy Shop both just seem so boring to me. Candy Shop is almost quite literally a "Magic Stick" retread and the beef nonsense just feels so whack and calculated.
Ugh.

I think we got bamboozled!
50 Cent and the Game were beefing hard and now after 50 sells 1 million-plus of The Massacre, niggas want to call a truce.
I smell something and it's not roses.
I guess beef sells records.
Well, whatever. I guess the so-called "rap feud" was good fodder for newspapers and magazines.
I like a few tracks from The Massacre. "Ski Mask Way" is my grimy anthem for the streets. I like 50's attempt to personify herion(sp) in "Baltimore Love Thing." It's not a great song, but 50 gets a B for effort. I think Nas would probably have done a better job if given a chance to do a song like that. And "Ryder Music" is pure dopeness. You can bump that joint while you are riding in your car. Throw your W's up.
Producer Hi-Tek did the "Ryder" song. I think Hi-Tek is on the fast track of becoming the next Dr. Dre. He needs to start lacing more cats with his addictive beats.
Great post Lynne!
Holla!
