Open Call: 2008 SXSW Interactive: Where Are The Black Tech Bloggers?
As some of you may have already heard, a panel I proposed to SXSW Interactive has been accepted. I have a great roster of names already, but I want to make sure I get a very good and balanced mix of the types of people who are on the panel.
Here's the gist of the proposal I submitted:
"In August 2007, Podtech Vlogger Loren Feldman got dressed up in black face (a tech nigga nonetheless) and asked the question, "Where Are The Black Tech Bloggers?" While Feldman's video drummed up controversy and was labeled as racist, it got the blogosphere thinking and talking. Especially the black tech bloggers. Here's your chance to discover that they really exist, and to learn how they think about technology, and well, people like Feldman."
If you or someone you know might be interested in participating on this panel, please drop me a line in my contact form. I'm rounding out the list ASAP.

Comments
I feel so privileged to be the first to comment on this entry. At the same time, it's even more disheartening to see three days go by without seeing anyone else comment on this. Maybe it's like a cake that's just been set on the table and that everyone is craving - but who wants to be responsible for defiling it with that first slice, right?
Well, there you go. Please have a piece. *smile*

This is a tough one.
1. I think perhaps the black tech bloggers don't read my site or anyone who knows the black tech bloggers don't.
2. I've gotten responses, but it's been on the backend and not here in the public sphere.
3. The Loren Feldman issue was worn out awhile back, and I think people may be thinking that this panel is going to be entirely about him -- which it isn't.
4. Many black tech bloggers -- don't want to be identified as black.
5. Many bloggers aren't sure whether they are tech bloggers are not if they don't have a blog like lifehacker or valleywag or scobelizer.
This list could continue, but I'll rest easy here. In a few days, I'll report the final list that should round out this panel.
Thanks all who have suggested panelists and who have contacted me about participating.
