writing the news: the 08.11.06 edition
here's the news that i've been keeping tabs on in the other places that i blog:
- Weekend Watching - In parodying NASCAR Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby ends up playing a game of brand integration overkill.
- Miami Vice's Brand Affiliations - In playing the brand integration overkill game Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby may be a definitive case study for brand integration into a film, but Miami Vice isn't far behind.
- Search Engine Sparring Dance - While Google's making major search advertising moves and Yahoo is upgrading its search advertising and search tools, where does that leave MSN?
- Napster Mobile: It's More Than Ringtones - With the IDC predicting that U.S. wireless music services will have over 50 million users and generate more than a billion dollars in revenue in 2010, Napster has launched a new mobile music service. Nokia's got a trick up its sleeve too. Watch out Apple.
- MTV has a Race Problem - Some Black folks are up-in-arms over the satire of Snoop Dog and two women on leashes being animated for an episode of MTV2's "Where My Dogs At?" I wonder if they've seen the first episode of "Flavor of Love 2" yet?
