both k-os' cds get frequent rotation in my cd changer. superstar is another hot track (the house remix version that the video uses).
interesting tidbit that i never knew, k-os was saying that he got the inspiration for bboy stance from the onyx joint slam where sticky fingaz says 'i'm a bboy standing in my bboy stance'. I never would have really linked those two together.

The whole "B-Boy Standing in my B-Boy Stance" is an old Run-DMC lyric... I forgot which song though...
K-Os is currently on tour with handsome Boy Modeling School... I interviewed not that long ago, but it was never published. So if anyone knows of an outlet looking for a dope K-Os interview, please give me a shout! He's a real down to Earth spiritual cat.

B-boy stance is cool, but my favorite tracks from "Joyful Rebellion" are "Dirty Water" and "Crabbuckit" - George pointed out that "Crabbuckit" sounds an awful lot like "Lucas With the Lid Off", but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I know I don't listen to a lot of hip-hop, but these days when I do listen to it, it's Canadian. I don't know if that's because I live here or what, but there's just something about their aesthetic -- or more correctly, the Teedot aesthetic -- that intrigues me. So far the only Vancity outfit that even made it on my radar screen are the Rascalz, and that's mostly because MCRed1 does a lot of work with K-Os.
Anyhow - Yay, Canada! :D

what is a b-boy stance?
i'm probably going to date myself on this one
but back in the day - when a breaker would enter the ring, do his head spin, freeze, stand back up, tilt his body to the side and then cros his arms across his chest, he was said to be standing in a b-boy stance
what many may call putting on that gangsta' grill, back in the day was the b-boy stance
and when i say back in the day, i mean like in the '70s

Yes Lynne, that is what a B-boy stance is... that's what Run-DMC was talking about, and they did it all the time. Remember the "King of Rock" video where they're standing back to back with their arms crossed, nodding their heads ice-grilling the camera? one day I going to make a t-shirt of a b-boy stance and make millions.... my wife said, "who even a does b-boy stance anymore?" From now on, every picture I take I will be in a b-boy stance... I'm bringin it back!

The B Boy stance wasn't just used when breaking... A lot of cats used that pose to let the rest of the set know who to step to out of the group. The one thing I remember as a shorty in the 70s (as well as the 80s) is that one brother that everybody walked behind. He busted "the stance". And another thing... We sure travelled in groups back in the day. Usually the "chief" was the cat with the hottest bellbottom Lee jeans. He usually had some type of 3/4 leather joint with some dead animal on his head (either that or a cold ass feather from some unsuspecting bird in his Dobbs or Kangol). In the 80s, everybody was posing, and it got worked into breaking and locking routines. It's a tight set when you have 8 or 9 guys all working a different move and then everyone ends the set with a B Boy stance freeze. It was and still is a stance of power. Check the clubs today, the stance is still used by posers and the powerful. Diddy does it, and I saw Ice T use the pose in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony photos. Hell, sometimes at work, right in the middle of the day in the midst of being swamped with people with paper, I just bust right into it... Right over left, legs shoulder width apart, head cocked with that serious grill. WHAT!
